Nkosiyethu Primary School was founded in February 1927 by the Benedictine Sisters of Tutzing as Christ the King Primary School under the Roman Catholic Church. African Benedictine Sisters, better known as the Twasana Sisters came to Nongoma in 1940 to assist the Tutzing Sisters in teaching the children of Christ the King Primary. In April 1977, the school was taken over by the KwaZulu Government.
